Sammy Mason is a
young aerobatic pilot that has won aerobatic competitions and
is on his third season of airshow performances. His first
airshow performance was at Santa Paula in the powered glider
at the age of 16. The next year, he was thrilling audiences in
the Stearman. Sammy's current mount is the Pitts S-1S. Sammy
is the grandson of Sammy Mason, and aerobatic performer of the
late 1940s and test pilot.
For this photo shoot, Sammy's mother, Rowena, flew the photo
ship (Stearman). The whole family are pilots and involved in
aviation. We all look forward to seeing many of the airshow
performances Sammy has ahead. My personal thanks goes out to
the Mason family for their hospitality and for the opportunity
to photograph this talented young man.
