Santa Barbara hosted a Veterans Day marathon and half marathon on November 10, 2012. Three T-34 Mentors, flown by Michael Maloco, Ron Alldredge and Marc Russell flew over the starting line at the beginning of the marathon. After the flyovers, we landed for breakfast in Santa Barbara and to wait to fly over the finish of the marathon. It was an early morning for everyone involved. We met at Camarillo Airport at 6:00 AM for the briefing and took off at 6:45. It was cold and a bit bumpy during the flight, but everyone did a great job keeping the formation looking sharp. Thanks to Hazel and John Blankenship and the Pierre Claeyssen Foundation, Maurine Mc Fadden, Jon Parra, Jose Ramirez, Charles Huff, and all of the staff and organizers for putting this all together.
