Joe "Rifle" Shetterly
Joe Shetterly took an
interest in aviation at an early age, starting with
control-line models and radio-control aircraft. On his 16th
birthday, he soloed. He completed his private pilot's license
by 17 and was flying aerobatics while still a teenager. His
passion for aviation led him to the US Air Force where he flew
the A-10 Warthog. He flew 140 combat hours in the A-10 over
Afghanistan and was selected to become one of the USAF's A-10
demonstration pilots. The Vans
RV-8 he flies was built by Eugene Gaddis, who was a USAF
fighter pilot and part of the original A-10 test team.
