Yakovlev Yak-9
The Yakovlev Yak-9
was the most mass produced fighter of all time. Between 1942
and 1948, over 16,000 were built.
It entered Soviet service in 1942 and first saw combat over
the skies of Stalingrad. In addition to it's role as a
fighter, it also anti-tank, light bomber and long range
escort missions. There were 15 variants of the aircraft that
saw mass production. This is a Yak-9U-M manufactured in 1994
when Yakovlev began making Yak-3 and Yak-9 fighters again
for the warbird market.
