Chino Airshow 2014
C-47 Skytrain

The DC-3 began as an airliner in the 1930s. During WWII, the allied armies used the Skytrain for transport and airborne operations. The US flew them for many years, including in Vietnam. Most commonly known as the C-47 in military terms, there were many variants that had different designations. It simple and rugged design has made it a lasting transport that is still used in many places today. There were three of these at the show. It should be noted that "D-Day Doll" is actually a C-53 Skytrooper, one of the many variants of the aircraft.
