Pilatus P-2
The Pilatus P-2 was
designed in 1942 in Switzerland. The first prototype flew on
April 27, 1945. Some of the landing gear parts came from
Messershmitt Bf.109s. There were two models that entered
production; the P-2-05 was an unarmed trainer. The P02-06 was
armed with a machine gun and wing racks for light bombs and
rockets as an armed trainer. Only 55 were built. Today, about
23 of them are still in flying condition worldwide. This one
was originally a P-2-06 and was built in 1950. It is part of
the Planes of Fame collection of aircraft.
