Cessna,
Piper and Stinson have all created aircraft for the US military for
liaison and forward air control missions. These are modified civilian
GA aircraft that usually have upgraded engines. Some of the bird-dogs
were armed with missiles, while some were unarmed. It was something to
see a formation of them arriving at Cable.
