Sikorsky
makes the UH-60 Blackhawk, which has replaced the older Hueys as the
workhorse for the US Army. The S-70 version, called the "Firehawk" is
used by civilian firefighting teams. Over 3,000 UH-60 and S-70
helicopters have been made, flying more than 6.5 million hours of
operational mission time by 27 countries. The Blackhawk is versatile
and can support a wide array of missions from disaster relief and
medical evacuation to combat assault and peacekeeping missions. The
Blackhawk is still in production and will be a workhorse for many years
ahead.
