PT-19 Cornell
The
PT-19 was created to fulfill a need for a primary trainer for the
USAAF. The Stearman was the main primary trainer of the time. Some felt
that the Stearman was easy to fly, considering the next step up could
be a high performance aircraft that can be unforgiving of mistakes like
the Stearman. Over 7,700 Cornells were built during the war. This one
belongs to Charlie Plumb, who has graciously allowed it to be displayed
and flown at the CAF SoCal Wing.
