Eclipse Aviation
announced a new category in business jets in 2002, called the
Very Light Jet (VLJ). The objective was to create an
affordable business jet that offered the performance and
amenities of the more expensive business jets. It first flew
in August of 2002. With seating for 6 passengers, a maximum
cruise speed of 370 knots at an altitude of 41,000 feet and
it's light construction, the Eclipse is also fuel efficient
compared to other business jets.
