Northrop N9M-B
The Northrop N-9M was
a development aircraft built in 1/3 scale for development and
testing to use for the XB-35 flying wing bomber concept. The
first N-9M flight took place on December 27, 1942. The
aircraft were flown for testing until the cancellation of the
B-35 program. All but one of the N-9M aircraft were destroyed
after the cancellation. This aircraft sat rotting until 1982,
when it was acquired by the Planes of Fame Museum at Chino
which restored it to flyable status. It is always a treat to
see this one-of-a-kind aircraft.
