Naval Aircraft Factory N3N
The N3N
is the last airplane type made by the Naval Aircraft Company, a Navy
run manufacturing complex. It is also the last biplane that was used in
US military service. There were 2 versions made, one with landing gear
and another with floats. In all, the Navy built 816 N3Ns. Today,
approximately 20 are still airworthy. This one (N44879) was built in
1940.
