On
Sunday, December 21, 2008, I met up with Stu McAfee and others for
lunch and some flying at Santa Paula Airport. I flew three photo
flights, one with Stu to capture Chris "Meat" Kenefick in his Stearman.
The second flight found me in Chris' Stearman, and I got to shoot not
only another Stearman, flown by Cliff Parkhill, but I was also able to
get Cliff and Stu in a formation that I have always wanted to shoot,
with a Stearman, the main primary trainer in WWII and the T-6 which was
the main advanced trainer of WWII. For the third flight, I rode again
with Stu in the T-6 to capture Bruce Dickenson's replica of the 1930s
air racer "Mr Mulligan". Bruce's replica is appropriately called "Mr
Dickenson". It is basically a Howard DGA-15 with a big radial engine on
the front, the same engine as a T-6. I want to thank Stu McAfee for the
invitation to come join in the fun. I also want to thank all of the
other pilots for a great opportunity.
