Twilight Battle- Cold Harbor

The Battle of Cold Harbor occurred between May 31 and June 12, 1864. On June 3, Grant ordered an all out assault on the Confederate lines along the Bethesda Church-Cold Harbor line. This was an attack that Grant wished he had never ordered. The Union forces were slaughtered in the battle, that took place before dawn. The estimated casualties from the whole battle was 13,000 Union forces and 2,500 Confederates.
