Fairey Gannett
The Fairey Gannett
first flew in 1949 as part of the post-war anti-submarine
warfare aircraft. It featured a turbo-prop engine driving
contra-rotating propellers. In all, 303 anti-submarine
variants were built with an additional 45 built for Airborne
Early Warning platforms. The last of the Gannetts to be
retired was in December of 1978.
