The EAA AirVenture Fly-in is an annual event that is the major event for aviation. The crowds and number of aircraft at Wittman Field in Oshkosh, Wisconsin were huge! Over half a million people attended with well over 10,000 aircraft. There is so much to see and do at Oshkosh, that the week-long event doesn't seem to have enough time to see and do it all. This was the first year on about 40 years that a military display team has flown at the event. The USAF Thunderbirds brought out crowds in record numbers on Saturday and Sunday. The weather was mixed, with some beautiful sunny days and some thunderstorms, hail and funnel clouds as well. But the days that rained didn't dampen the spirits of those attending AirVenture. This was my second year working with the Aero-News Network to help provide coverage of this massive event. Thanks to Jim Campbell for bringing me along for this event and to the rest of the ANN crew for the hospitality, fun and friendship. Oshkosh is an amazing event and if you are even casually interested in aviation, it is a must see.
