Fiesler Storch Replica
The Fiesler Fi-156
Storch was developed to work as an army liaison and ambulance.
The large wingspan and leading edge slats give the Storch
amazing STOL characteristics. A Storch was landed on a
mountain side during the rescue of Mussolini by Otto Skorzeny.
It landed in about 30 meters (100 feet) and took off,
overloaded, in about 80 meters (250 feet). The Fiesler Storch
was also the victim in the final aerial battle of WWII over
Europe when US Army Lts. Duane Francis and Bill Martin, flying
an L-4 Grasshopper, forced a Storch down by firing their 45s
from their L-4.
This Storch is a 75%
replica, built by the pilot, Steven Lund.
