Tom Hicks owns and
operated this Piper NE-1. The Navy bought 230 J3C-65 Piper Cubs to
training. The US Army used the Piper Cub for reconnaissance,
transporting supplies and medical evacuation under the designation L-4
Grasshopper. The US Navy used them as trainers primarily, although some
were painted in the scheme like this one, coastal gray.
