Douglas C-53 Skytrooper
The
Douglas C-53 Skytrooper (N45366) is a C-47 Skytrain without the
cargo doors. It was built to transport paratroopers only. This one is
owned and operated by the CAF unit based at Cable Airport. This
particular aircraft flew three mission for the Normandy invasion
(D-Day), flew into Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge and
participated in Operation Varsity, the northern crossing of the Rhine.
