North American P-51D "Lou IV"
This P-51
Mustang showed up at the airport on Sunday of the air show. This P-51
was built in 1944. This Mustang was part of the 15th Air Force in WWII
and later part of the Kentucky Air National Guard.
Note: This
airplane was owned by Chuck Greenhill when these photos were taken. It
was purchased by John McKittrick in late 2006. Tragically, John
McKittrick was killed in this aircraft on Sunday, July 15, 2007 while
performing touch and go landings. Our thoughts and prayers here at
VG-photo are with his family during this sad time. Godspeed, John, you
will be missed.
