Aircraft Artifacts in the Museum


The CAF WWII Aviation Museum in Camarillo has a nice collection of aircraft artifacts and historical interest, ranging from early flight and WWII to modern items such as ejection seats. Here are a few of the items of interest seen this month.


This is the only surviving example of a bombsight from a Japanese Mitsubishi G4M "Betty" bomber.


This is part of an Allison Engine recently recovered from a crash sight in the local area.


This is a Link trainer used by the USAAF in WWII to train pilots instrument flying.


An airfield light.


A Continental 40 horsepower aircraft engine.


An Allison V1710 engine used in the P-40 Warhawk and the P-38 Lighting fighters.


A radial engine with cutaways used for training.
