May 9, 2008- Gathering of Mentors
Flight One- Gas Run
The
first flight for Saturday was a gas run. It was cheaper to fly to
Thermal Airport's self service gas pump than to fill up at Palm Springs
Airport, by a significant amount. Two flights of four aircraft, alpha
and bravo flight briefed for the flight and readied for takeoff. The
flight to Termal Airport was nice. It must have been quite a site for
the locals to see eight T-34 Mentors all lined up at the self serv pump
for fill up! Alpha flight filled up and took off to return to Palm
Springs and give the folks there a couple of nice flyovers. I was in
bravo flight. We lined up and tanked up. The passenger in number four
of the flight had some air sickness, so it was a good break for him to
relax.
Alpha flight forming up below us,
at 2,000 feet. Bravo flight formed up at 2,500.

On final approach to Thermal
Airport.

"Cheap gas", well, the least
expensive AvGas in the area.
