Flight Two- Return and Flyovers
As
sometimes happen with old airplanes, things did not go exactly as
planned. We had planned on another airplane joining us at Thermal for a
five ship formation on the return. What we had not planned on is for
one of the aircraft to not start. Everyone started and got ready to
taxi to the runway, except one, which happened to be the one that I was
sitting in. After a few things to try over the radio, the other guys
shut down their engines to try and determine the source of the trouble.
After some brief looking, the problem was found to be a broken terminal
lug to the starter. With some assistance by one of the local mechanics,
we started again and taxied to take off for a nice return flight. A BIG
thanks goes out to Vladi at Thermal airport.
We performed a couple of
flybys for the folks at Palm Springs on the return flight, followed by
a formation break and landing.
