The O2A
is a militarized version of the Cessna 337. Is was selected to
supplement to the role of the O-1 bird-dog aircraft for Forward Air
Contol (FAC). 532 O-2s were built for the US military. The O-2A was
designed to carry rockets, flares and other light ordinance while the
O-2B was designed for psychological warfare and equipped with only
loudspeakers and leaflet dispensers. With two engines to help
bring them home, the O-2s were well liked by the crews that flew them
into combat.
