This is a C-17
Globemaster, part of the 452 Air Mobility Wing (AMW) that is based at
March Air Reserve Base in California. The C-17 Globemaster first flew
on September 15, 1991 and the first production aircraft entered USAF
service in June of 1993. The first unit for the C-17, the 17th Airlift
Squadron was declared operationally ready in January of 1995. Since
then, the C-17 has flown over 1 million operational hours and maintains
an incredible efficiency record. While fighters and bombers are the
airplanes that receive most of the attention, the cargo aircraft are
what keep the supplies coming and the troops fed.
