Riverside Airshow 2006
US Navy Heritage Flight
This year's Navy heritage
flight featured the F-18 Hornet with the Grumman F4F Wildcat and the
F6F Hellcat. The F=18 is from the US Navy's VFA-125 Strike
Fighter Squadron "The Rough Raiders" based at NAS Lemoore. This F4F
Wildcat is really an FM-2 (made by General Motors) and has markings of
the British Royal Navy. The British called it the Martlett. The F6F is
wearing the colors of David McCampbell's "Minsi III". David McCampbell
was the US Navy's top ace of WWII with 34 kills.
