Trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Row
The
Monterey Peninsula is historic for it's boom to bust business in
sardines and seafood. The area has also been home to numerous military
installations. Following the end of the era of the canneries, the area
went through a transition to tourism. The Monterey Bay Aquarium opened
in 1984 and typically gets about 2 million visitors per year. Hotels,
restaurants and shops along Cannery Row do great business throughout
the year. This was my second visit to the area, and my first with the
ability to take the photographs I have been wanting to take.
